Thompson Suburban Dental Lab can provide your custom-fit oral sleep apnea appliances, including mandibular repositioning devices such as TAP 3 and elastic mandibular advancement devices such as EMA First Step. Oral appliances can be especially effective for patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea who don’t require or can’t adhere to a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device. Our non-invasive sleep apnea appliances can also be effective for long-term sleep apnea and snoring control and can often serve as an alternative to the UPPP surgical procedure.
Thornton Adjustable Positioner (TAP 3)
The TAP 3 sleep apnea device consists of two clear trays that are custom-made to fit your teeth. The trays have a hook in the front that locks to keep your lower jaw from dropping down at night and causing snoring. Watch this video to learn more about how a TAP 3 device can help you:
Elastic Mandibular Advancement (EMA) First Step
Myerson EMA First Step is similar in design to TAP 3, but instead of a hook, it uses flexible bands to connect the lower and upper trays. These bands come in several different lengths and can be placed in different spots to bring the jaw where it needs to be to avoid snoring and sleep apnea.
